The block is a tile that can be moved only by Chip; monsters treat it as a wall.
Blocks are one of the most useful and most frequently seen tiles; they can be used to hold down brown buttons, destroy bombs, turn water into dirt, and redirect monsters to a more desirable location. Blocks cannot be pushed over thieves, dirt, monsters, computer chips, or any walls (except open toggle walls), although they can be pushed into a thin wall tile from a different direction and also pushed off a thin wall from the blocked side (see Mouse Panel Glitch). In the Lynx Ruleset, this restriction extends to hints and exits. Blocks can be cloned, as well as pushed onto ice, force floors, and teleports, but if Chip is hit by a sliding or cloned block, he will die and this message is shown: Ooops! Watch out for moving blocks!
If a block is pushed onto ice or force floors, it can be stopped from sliding by attempting to push it onto any tile which acts as a wall to blocks. Should an obstacle in the middle of a force floor track, or even on both sides of an ice track (after a second obstacle has jammed itself in between the sliding block and the other obstacle) stop a block from moving, removing it will cause the block to resume sliding and thus squash Chip, unless this preliminary measure is taken first, in which case the block will not slide unless pushed again. This method can be used to make travels through sections of Block Buster and Block Buster II safer, though slower.
Blocks can hide any tile underneath, even ones which act as walls to it. Even monsters can be hidden under blocks, though this is seen only in CCLP2 level 142 (Chomper Romp), and not anywhere in the original level set. Should Chip push such a block, he will be killed just as if he stepped on a non-moving monster. The first tile hidden under a block was a fire in Lesson 4.
